Dinner für Dolly (WT)
A queer, slow-burning chamber play, stretched out across a summer landscape on a southern island.
In a faded finca surrounded by almond trees and pines, the eccentric couple Alex and Yale retreat from their lives in Switzerland. They call it a retreat, but really it’s an escape—from creative dead ends: Alex’s unwritten book, Yale’s unfinished paintings. But their days unfold slowly and uneasily, interrupted only by Paula, the gardener, and her partner, who comes to pick her up each evening. The encounters between the two couples are brief, cautious, and charged. As heat and time distort the boundaries between observation and projection, the film becomes a surreal meditation on queer intimacy, longing, and the fantasies we cast onto other people’s lives.
